Believe in your dreams, someday they become true like it happened to me .
One sentence about the products that you are using
F-ONE for me is… Freedom ! It allows me to do what I want and there is no limit. It is just about enjoying the ride.
How did you get into kiteboarding?
It was in 1999. A friend of mine came to Cape Verde with one of the first kites on the market and a theory book. Obviously I left the theory to him and I took the kite to have a try. And the rest is history…
What do you do before getting in the water?
I’m always spending some time checking the conditions, even if I already know the spot. I check the wind, the sea, the weather, the riders in the water, even the birds … I guess it is something of a fundamental importance that people underestimate.
Tell us about your best kiting memory.
Surfing Teahupo’o is something I had been dreaming all my life. The day I finally did ride that wave will be engraved in my memory as one the best moments of my career. Ever!
Your worst wipeout?
Once again: Teahupo’o! I thought I was going to die when my kite got caught by the leap and it crashed into the water, bringing myself underwater. I was trying to release it, but the safety leash was wrapped in the chicken loop. After having drunk a lot of water, a jet ski appeared out of nowhere and saved me!
Who you would like to say thank you to?
To that jet ski who saved me 😉
But firstly to my mother. Now that I have kids, I can understand how hard it must have been for her to raise me alone, and all the worries she must have been going through.
